Following the recently published breeders' and studbook rankings, the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) has now also published its ranking of the most successful sires in dressage, show jumping and eventing. And the Holsteiner stallion Diarado by Diamant de Semilly-Corrado I (Klaus Kristensen, DEN), mare family 318D2, leads the eventing sire ranking - for the third year in a row.
Diarado became the clear and acclaimed champion stallion at the Holsteiner licensing in 2007. The breeding director at the time, Dr. Thomas Nissen, described Diarado as a champion stallion “with incredible charisma, as he embodies the perfect type of a modern athlete.” His canter, strong back and correct legs were also ideal. “But the real highlight was the free jumping,” continued Nissen at the time. “From the very first jump, he showed an overview and worked with a relaxed body, excellent leg technique and incredible ability, which earned him a score of 10,” he said of the stallion, who belongs to the owner consortium of Paul Schockemöhle Pferdehaltung GmbH, Dutch stallion owner Joop van Uytert and Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH.
Diarado's offspring are also at the top of the WBFSH ranking: The most successful of them is JL Dublin, who won team gold for Great Britain at the Olympic Games in Paris with Tom McEwen and collected the most points for the Holsteiner Verband in the eventing studbook ranking and for his breeder Volker Göttsche-Götze in the breeder ranking.
The Contender Reichsgraf son Contendro I ranks seventh in the eventing ranking, representing the 104A line that Manfred Birchler so meticulously cultivates as Bilten in Switzerland.
In the jumping rankings, Cardento by Capitol I-Lord (Reimer Witt, Wellinghusen), line 741, improved his position from the previous year by one place and is now in seventh place. Casall by Caretino-Lavall I (Wilfried Thomann, Drelsdorf), Stamm 890, is in eleventh place and Diarado is again in 15th position.
