FOALS
From birth to registration
Every year a new generation of Holsteiner foals is born, ensuring the survival of the Holsteiner horse, a breed enjoying success all over the world.
The foal year begins with the birth of the offspring. The birth of the foal must be reported to the Holsteiner Verband via the foaling report. Every owner of a registered or covered mare receives the foaling report at the beginning of the year with the fee invoice. The prerequisite for this is that the covering was reported by the stallion owner in the previous year.
After successful registration, the breeder receives all the documents required to register the foal at a inspection/registration date.
ATTENTION BREEDERS!
Foal entries must be received by the Breeding Department of the Holsteiner Verband, Steenbeker Weg 151, 24106 Kiel, Germany, by May 30, 2025, in order to appear in the 2025 Foal Catalogue. Due to the time of printing, entries received after this date cannot be included in the main catalogue; they will appear in the supplement.

Foal championships
The foals can qualify for the foal championships of the breeding district at the award ceremonies.
The best foals of the year will be selected at the R+V Foal Championships on 25 August 2025.
