Stallion Performance Test and Grading under Saddle at Elmshorn: Three Stallions Licensed

A short aptitude assessment, a sport test for four- and five-year-old stallions and a grading under saddle were held during the Holsteiner autumn event.

The best Holsteiner to complete the short aptitude assessment was the licensed stallion Explosion by Eldorado v/d Zeshoek-Contender (breeding partnership Karin and Jan Lüneburg, Hetlingen). Under Rasmus Lüneburg, the three-year-old from mare family 8763 proved particularly impressive in terms of canter and jumping ability, scoring 8.5, with Explosion‘s jumping weighted total mark at 8.32.

Twelve horses were lined up for the sport test for four-year-old jumping stallions (part 1) at Elmshorn. Zino van Ekholt (Katja Claußen Brühe, Seeth), mare family 1859, had his age-group’s best passing score. The licensed bay stallion was expertly presented by Peppi Dahlmann for Aix la Chapelle stable (Weinheim). The judges awarded 8.8 on canter and overall impression, 8.7 on rideability and 8.5 on ability, resulting in a jumping weighted final score of 8.71.

In the five-year-old category, the field was headed by Master of Paradise by Manchester van’t Paradijs-Catoki (Alina Hinzmann, Ahrensburg), mare family 18A1. Gabriele Bornholdt presented the stallion, whose rideability (8.6) was particularly praised by the jury. His jumping-weighted final mark: 8.32. At the following grading under saddle, Master of Paradise also was able to convince the grading committee, comprising Stephan Haarhoff, Carsten Lauck and Christian Thoroe. Two other stallions left the Fritz-Thiemann-indoor arena as graded stallions, both of them from Sollwitt. One of them is four-year-old Miami by Mylord Carthago-Quinar (Margit Petersen, Sollwit), a full brother to Teike Friedrichsen’s (nee Carstensen) Greece, the other is Comme le feut by Comme il faut-Caretino (Ivonne Carstensen, Sollwitt). Same as Miami, this four-year-old is from mare family 3401. The siblings Beeke and Tjade Carstensen presented their family’s home-bred stallions to best advantage.

“Our three new additions are a real asset to the Holsteiner population, not only genetically but also in terms of appearance. Not least because of the numerous impressions we have been able to gain during the stallion performance test and grading, our licensing decisions have been confirmed,” said breeding director Stephan Haarhoff afterwards.
