Important information about shipping semen
Order deadline for deliveries on the following day
Orders must be received by 9.30 a.m. on Monday to Friday and by 9.00 a.m. on Saturday in order to be delivered on the following day.
Shipping of semen to Verband station
To breeders within Schleswig-Holstein, semen of nearly all stallions can be made available at any stallion station of the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH, Elmshorn. The semen is delivered to the chosen station by night courier. On-farm insemination is another option for Schleswig-Holstein breeders, the semen is shipped directly after arrival from the station contracted vet for the mare to be inseminated directly on the breeder‘s premises.
Shipping of semen outside Schleswig-Holstein
For breeders not in co-operation with a stallion station of the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH, Elmshorn, semen is shipped directly to the vet given on the order. For direct shipping of semen to the breeder or vet, the charges for shipping will be billed extra. Charges for shipping must be born by the breeder, same as the government vet’s certificates per stallion and consignment for shipping of semen outside Germany (charges for shipping + approx. 45,- euros).
For shipping of frozen semen, the customer provides the container and pays a lump sum price for liquid nitrogen. Alternatively, the customer may purchase a non-returnable container at 100,- euros + 25,- euros liquid nitrogen lump sum.
The adjoining list provides you with information which stallions are available for on-farm insemination or can have fresh (cooled) semen shipped within Germany or Europe.
No warranty on delivery
The Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH, Elmshorn does not warrant delivery in good time provided that the semen has been properly consigned to the shipper by the station.
Along with the semen, the station also provides the Artificial Insemination Breeding Report which must be completed and signed by the vet or the insemination technician and sent back to the stallion station of the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH, Elmshorn along with the container.
