The first centralised mare inspection event of the year took place in Kayhude for the breedinmg districts Ostholstein, Segeberg and Stormarn-Lauenburg.
Ostholstein
A mare from Ostholstein was selected by the committee, consisting of Stephan Haarhoff, Rasmus Lüneburg and Carsten Lauck, for the final ring and thus as the winning mare of the breeding district for the Verband mare show in Elmshorn:
First place went to a daughter of Dinken-Chin Champ, line 8783, bred by Christin Bendfeldt from Scharbeutz. Magnus Redderberg from Ahrensbök is responsible for breeding the reserve winner: a mare by Highway-Adagio de Talma, line 1866.

Segeberg
Four mares reached the final ring in the breding district Segeberg and one left it as the winner, who had already impressed with her outstanding athleticism and best in class in the mare performance test: a Va Bene-Ampère daughter (Thomas Horns, Bredenbekshorst), Stamm 4847. With a score of 9.10, she has already been performance-tested and, as the winning mare in Segeberg, has now also been approved for the Verband mare show in Elmshorn. There will hopefully also be a reunion in Elmshorn with the reserve winner by Cascadello I-Ibisco xx (Kirsten Roll, Struvenhütten), line 223B.
The two other final ring mares by Dinken-Lancer II (Erwin Horns, Bredenbekshorst), line 4847, and by Chinchero-Contendro I (ZG Maaß/Brinkmann, Leezen), line 69, also received the coveted approval for Elmshorn. The latter also already had an excellent performance test with a final score of 9.03.

The winning mare from Stormarn-Lauenburg descends from Sezuan's Donnerhall and Quantum (line 2067). Hans-Peter Rathjen from Ahrensburg is the proud breeder of this three-year-old. The reserve winner is a daughter of Crack-Connor and was presented by ZG Meinert from Elmenhorst. She represents the 18A2 line and also achieved a fantastic score of 9.10 in the mare performance test.
A mare by Dinken-Calido I (Ernst-Hinrich Schacht, Todendorf), line 776, also reached the final ring.

Generous vouchers for the breeding heroines of tomorrow
Holsteiner mares are the basis of success - and to reward outstanding performers and their breeders, two stallion stations have generously sponsored mare registrations this year: Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH is awarding a free jumper of a three to five-year-old Verband stallion for the champion mare and reserve champion mare of each breeding district. In addition, the Maas J. Hell stallion station will provide each additional mare that makes it to the final ring in her breeding district with a stud fee voucher.
Many thanks also to the Ellerbrock family for providing the facilities!

The four central inspection centres in Schleswig-Holstein
Mare inspection:
At the mare inspection, the mares are presented in hand and in free running and receive marks for type, topline, front foot, hind foot, walk, trot and canter. The mares can receive a special award (premium) based on the scoring and certain pedigree requirements. From 2025, mare inspections in Schleswig-Holstein will be carried out at four central locations and no longer individually in the breeding districts.
