With an emotional video on social media, the Thomsen family has sent their championship horse Horseware's Barny into a well-deserved retirement.

Twice the Barnaul xx-Cornetto son bred by Volker Jacobs (Ostenfeld) competed at the European Championships with Peter Thomsen, at the World Championships in Caen, France, in 2014, the two finished sixth in the individual classification. However, Barney and his long-time rider achieved their greatest success at the 2012 Olympic Games in London when they won the gold medal with the German equipe.
Since 2018, the Holsteiner then still Peter Thomsen daughter Kaya paved the way to international eventing in the junior camp. Now at the age of 20, the bay gelding, who has been awarded so many sporting merits, is allowed to enjoy his days in the meadow.
