38 large horses took part in the first mare performance test of the year, organised by the Holsteiner Verband in cooperation with the Pferdestammbuch Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg in Elmshorn.
And the young mares presented themselves very well: 25 of them passed the field test with an overall score of 8.0 or better. ‘We saw many very modern, athletic and, above all, well jumping horses,’ said breeding director Stephan Haarhoff happily. The judges Michael Gonell and Heino Kracht awarded the highest score of 10 eleven times for the free jumping. Markus Waterhues and Kurt Carstensen were present to assess the rideability and basic gaits, with Finja Tüchsen and Nelson Queißer acting as external riders.
Two mares achieved the outstanding overall score of 9.10: One was a daughter of Va Bene-Ampère bred by Marc Horns from Bredenbekshorst. The three-year-old received a 10 for free jumping and also shone under saddle: the judges awarded her a 9.0 for rideability, the external rider liked her even better and gave her a 9.5. She also scored an 8.5 for canter, 8.0 for walk and 9.0 for trot. And then there was a mare by Crack-Connor (ZG Meinert, Elmenhorst). She also jumped clear for a 10.0 and received a 9.5 (third-party rider) and 8.5 (judge) for rideability. In addition, the canter was scored 8.0, the walk 9.0 and the trot 8.0.
