The Cumano son’s most outstanding point are his big frame, his strong top-line and his correct legs. The stallion’s tremendous jumping ability is particular impressive. Despite his height, he is an agile jumper with very good reactions. His quality canter is of particular importance for a future show jumping career.
The Cassini I blood has had a great impact on a whole era of Holsteiner breeding, culminating in his son Cumano and Jos Lansink winning the 2006 WEG. Other than Cumano, in particular Eurocommerce Berlin, Rosalia la Silla, Carino and Carambole have earned worldwide recognition for the Cassini I blood and thus the Holsteiner studbook. Cumano’s importance lies not only in his sporting career but also in his stud value. Bred only for a few years, first and foremost in Belgium and France, he is a household name through offspring like Neptune Brecourt, Navalo de Poheton and Chilli Pepper van de Helle.
Corfu’s dam and her bloodline are of particularly sustained value. Lord daughter Hera’s produce includes Colore, a licensed stallion successfully shown in competition as well as the FEI sport horses Colora and Quido van de Helle. Through the tail female line, she carries two stallions very typical for the Witt family’s breeding programme, Romino and Sacramento Song/TB.
In 2021 he passed his sport test for five-year-old stallions with a weighted jumping score of 8.36. For his rideability he received a score of 9.0 and for his ability an 8.7.
As a five-year-old, Corfu placed several times in young show jumper classes up to 1.30m, and he also attracted attention as a six-year-old under Massimo Bonomi in jumper classes up to 1.30m and won a 1.20m class.
In view of his own sire Cumano as well as his high quality dam line, Corfu should make a good sire as well. With just a minimal amount of Cor de la Bryère blood and due to his special body structure and exceptional jumping ability he is suited to breed many mares in our studbook in a bid to improve height, size, and ability in their produce.
Corfu's first foals are very promising. In 2020 he already produced the Foal Championess in the Steinburg breeding district and the Vice-Championess of the VTV/R+V Holstein Foal Championships in Bad Segeberg. This year we have already seen many striking Corfu foals such as this typey colt by Corfu-Chin Champ-Corrado II bred by Inke Reimer. (Photo below)
