New additions 2026: Chopino by Copino VA-For Pleasure

The last candidate in the presentation round of new arrivals for 2026 for Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH is also a very interesting one: the three-year-old Chopino was awarded premium stallion status at the most recent Holsteiner licensing event.

“We have seen a real athlete here, lean and wiry and with awesome movement“, was the verdict of breeding director Stephan Haarhoff on premium stallion Chopino at the 2025 Holsteiner grading. With his modern appearance showing a strong TB influence along with the famous Holsteiner mechanics and athleticism, Chopino impressed right from very first moment. Particular his free jumping presentation demonstrated outstanding ability, excellent bascule, quick reflexes and great judgement, qualities that won over the grading committee across the board and make him a bright prospect for stud and sport purposes. In the auction following the grading, Felix Flinzer secured this promising stallion for the Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH, thus keeping him in the Holstein breeding programme.

Sire
His sire Copino by Cooper has already attracted attention as a jumper under the saddle of Diarmuid Howley (IRL) several times, demonstrating ability and quick reactions. However, from the breeding perspective, Copino’s damline is particular interesting: his dam Odina III by Coriano is one of the most successful Holsteiner broodmares as her produce includes numerous successful international jumping horses, including Olympic horse Chopin VA (Mathilda Karlsson/SRI). Moreover, another son of Odina III, recently licensed Chacoris by Chacco-Blue is a new addition to the Verband stallion stable – impressive proof of this line’s exceptional quality.

Damline
Chopino carries reliable bloodlines also on the bottom of his pedigree. His dam, Zoey by For Pleasure, has own results up to 1.50m level and comes from Holsteiner mare family 7709. This family’s most well-known representatives include horses such as the 1.60m jumpers Casseur de Prix by Caretino (Jenny McAllister/USA) and Carlo by Cassus (Beeke Carstensen) and the former reserve champion stallion Chinchero by Chopin VA under Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann.

Chopino combines modern conformation, great athleticism and first-rate performance genes – perfect conditions for a successful future as a sport horse and valuable Holsteiner breeding stallion.
