With the 2026 instalment of Springflut festival just around the corner, visitors can look forward to high-level sport, top entertainment and a varied programme for the entire family yet again. Also this year, a key feature of this popular event near the Danish border is the foal auction jointly organized by Holsteiner Verband and Holsteiner Highlight Sales and scheduled for Saturday 11 July.
Whenever the Johannsen family invites to Hörup, the German show jumping community convenes, as Springflut festival has established itself as a fixture on the showing calendar over these past years, combining top class sport and a familiar atmosphere. In addition to international level as well as youth classes and a varied supporting programme, visitors can spend time at the adjacent James Farm offering regional produce, farm tours and hands-on activities as well as a casino night on Thursday – a first. Anybody unable to attend in person can watch the horse show and the auction live on ClipMyHorse.TV.
In the Footsteps of Championship Heroes
At the auction, the Holsteiner Verband again presents a hand-picked selection of promising foals bred for jumping, young talents from performance tested dam lines carrying successful international sport stallions. Take for example lot 2, Une Fleur by Ermitage Kalone-Casall, mare family 18A2; not only her sire and damsire are successful championship contenders, but the entire damline is famous for its international sport horse produce, such as Calle Cool (Nisse Lünerburg/GER), Caillan (Rolf-Göran Bengtsson/SWE), Chepetta (Celine Schoonbroodt-De Avenzendo/BEL), to name just a few.
Lot 4, Cannonball by Cartello VDL-Contendro I boasts high-profile relatives, as well. This stallion prospect is from mare family 2543 – better known as “Thiedemann family”, a mare family which has produced sport horses such as Cordalis (Alexander Zettermann/SWE), Conchita van de Helle (Sam Overtonn/AUS) or the licensed stallion Lasino (Jörg Kreutzmann/GER).
“Our collaboration with the Holsteiner Verband has become firmly established by now. The special atmosphere of the auction held on the marketplace stood the test last year and will provide the proper setting also this time around”, says host Stephan Johannsen.
The auction foals are publicly presented in the show jumping arena on 11 July at 2:30pm. The auction is held in the evening around 8:00pm at the heart of Springflut festival, the marketplace.
