World Championships in Aachen: These Holstein horses are entered

When the world’s best riders gather in Aachen from 11 to 23 August, all eyes will be on not only the medal deciders – but also on the horses that shape the world of top-level international equestrian sport. The World Championships in Aachen are regarded as the equestrian highlight of the year.
For breeders, owners and riders, simply being nominated is already a special honour – and for the Holsteiner Verband, it is yet further proof that horses bred in northern Germany have been among the most sought-after sporting partners at the very highest level for decades.

Show Jumping
: 179 horses from 26 breeding associations have been entered in the show jumping competition. Twelve of these bear the Holsteiner brand. A glance at their pedigrees reveals that a total of 24 World Championship starters are descended from Holsteiner stallions, in addition to numerous horses from other breeding associations that trace their lineage back to proven Holsteiner dam lines. A total of 22 Holsteiner lines are represented in the show jumping competition in Aachen – a clear sign of the lasting influence of Holsteiner breeding on international show jumping.
