Event announcement: Laboklin’s 6th Horse Breeders’ Day

On 30 January 2027, the 6th Horse Breeders’ Day will take place as an online event. Organised by Laboklin, the specialist programme is aimed at horse breeders and anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of equine health and gaining new insights for their daily practice.

The focus will be on current topics in the fields of genetics, veterinary medicine, nutrition and diagnostics. The presentations will cover, amongst other things, the significance of selected genetic variants for equine health, common poisoning risks in the pasture and in the stable, as well as liver function and liver diseases in horses. Other programme items are devoted to the use of omega-3 fatty acids and the topic of epilepsy in horses.

In the afternoon, participants can supplement the main programme with one of two in-depth seminars: Prof. Dr Ingrid Vervuert from the University of Leipzig will speak on nutrition in cases of liver disease and the tension between scientific evidence and supposed nutritional trends. PhD Dr Sabita Stöckle from the Free University of Berlin will explain what horse owners can do to provide first aid in the event of colic and when veterinary assistance is required.

The Horse Breeders’ Day thus offers the opportunity to expand specialist knowledge, recognise health risks at an early stage and better interpret findings and symptoms – as a basis for informed decisions regarding breeding, husbandry and care.

The event will take place online. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance and will also have access to the recording for six weeks.
