Holsteiner Week 2023: Free Jumping Pulls Crowd Again

In line with established tradition, today’s Friday was all about free jumping. 63 three-year-old Holsteiner colts presented themselves in front of the grading committee, this year comprising Stephan Haarhoff, Deike Ahsbahs, Horst-Klaus Heleine, Lars Nieberg and Carsten Lauck.

Exceptional sire Casall is being represented by the most offspring with six of his sons demonstrating their quality in the free jumping chute. Other C line representatives include several offspring by Cascadello I, Clarimo, Colman, and Cornet Obolensky. Among the selection’s gems are also stallion candidates by Diamant de Semilly, his sons and grandsons, which have founded a sire line of their own over these past years in Holstein. The blood of Uriko and his son, United Way, is also widely represented. The last named had already had the most offspring at the preselection. “Already the presentation on hard surface has been an indication of the high general quality and correctness of the age group born in 2020. This impression was continued at today’s free jumping. The free jumping team around Alexandra Bitter contributed to the cool and laid-back performance shown by many of the colts“, breeding director Stephan Haarhoff said afterwards. “It was also very gratifying to have a crowd of about 2000 people clapping and cheering on the performances in the Holstenhall.”

Decision on licensing status on Saturday, Verband stallions on Sunday
It’s getting real on Saturday morning, with the group presentations at a walk followed by the announcement of the licensing status and the premium awards. At about 1:30pm, the Holsteiner champion stallion of the year 2023 is announced. This is followed of the auction of the licensed and non-licensed stallions for sale, before the appearance of once-in-a-century stallion and crowd favourite, Casall. The breeders’ party in hall 5 kicks off at 8:00pm.  The Holsteiner week comes to a close with another highlight, the traditional Verband stallion parade showcasing about 25 breeding stallions.

Everybody prevented from attending at Neumünster can follow the entire event via live stream on ClipMyHorse.tv. All the stallion candidates are available for online viewing, including pedigrees, photos, and videos on www.holsteiner.auction. For any questions on the auction and the horses, do not hesitate to contact auction manager Felix Flinzer (phone 0162-3493942).
