The new leg of the Global Champions Tour in Cairo last weekend produced some impressive scenes. Against the backdrop of Egypt’s pyramids, Riesenbeck International – who were already leading the competition – managed to seal the deal in the Global Champions League. A fifth-place finish would have been enough for Zuccero HV by Zirocco Blue-Caretino (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), stock number 4539, ridden by Max Weishaupt and her team-mate Marco Kutscher. But as the saying goes: why settle for less when you can go all out? With a victory after two rounds, they were able to celebrate as the early winners of the League standings. Bassam Mohammed (QAT) and Rocket Man by Mylord Carthago–Quality Time (Matthias Wree, Hartenholm), line 7126, also secured another placing for the Holsteiners, finishing seventh in the 1.60-metre Grand Prix.
A CSI5* event took place in Upper Marlboro in the USA. Here, two Holsteiners placed in the 1.60-metre World Cup round: Chicago CM by Cassini I-Carpaccio (Ute Carstensen-Möller, Langstedt), line 741, and Christian Coyle (IRL) finished seventh after a jump-off with a clear round. Cody by Casall-Quidam de Revel (Sören von Rönne, Neuendeich), line 8900, and Rene Dittmer also secured placings. And in another 1.50-metre show jumping class, Citoki by Catoki-Chambertin (Kai Gerken, Lasbek), line 6900, and Syklar Wireman (USA) took second place. Brunson by Manchester van’t Paradijs-Quiwi Dream (Christian Schröder, Bargteheide), line 18B1, and Rene Dittmer also took sixth place.
