Holsteiner Results: Silver for Cous Cous in the Mechelen World Cup

International top-class equestrian sport also found a worthy setting between the holidays: a World Cup station was held in Mechelen (BEL), where two Holsteiners were placed in the top five.

On the one hand there was the Cachas-Lasino son Cous Cous, dam line 18B1, (Norbert Schmalbach, Mollhagen) with Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) in the saddle. The gray came in second place in the 1.60 meter course after clear rounds in circulation and jump-off. And on the other hand, Calleryama by Casall-Contender (Jutta Struve, Satrup), dam line 6879, and the Belgian Gilles Thomas in fifth place.

Over 1.45 meters, two other horses with Holstein paper secured top three placings at this tournament: Uricas v/d Kattevennen by Uriko-Cassini I (Otto Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 1916, ranked second with Harrie Smolders (NED). Followed by Casillas van de Helle by Casall-Corrado I (Dr. Konrad Bartjen, Wacken), tribe 6372, with Kevin Jochems (NED) in the saddle on the bronze rank.

In the United Arab Emirates, more precisely in Al Ain, a Holsteiner emerged as the winner of the 1.45 meter Grand Prix: Quintair by Quintero-Con Air (Torsten Gripp, Willenscharen), line 8803. The dark bay was ridden by the only 19-year-old Abdurakhmon Abdullaev (UZB).

Cardora by Caretino-Clearway (Otto Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 5421, jumped to first place in a 1.40 meter competition in Wellington (USA). Tomas Yofre from Argentina is now in the saddle of the mare that was once brought into the sport in Schleswig-Holstein by Alessa Hennings.
