Anticipation is running high for the grading of the young Holsteiner stallions on 13 and 14 December 2024 at Elmshorn: For the second time now, the highlight of the year will be hosted at the Verband’s own facility and visitors can once again expect a highly interesting programme - and above all stallion candidates of special quality, all of whom can now be viewed online.
“The age group has a multitude of highly interesting young stallions from proven Holsteiner damlines with reliable sport horse genes. We recognized the great basic quality of the age group already during the pre-selection“, says breeding director Stephan Haarhoff with an optimistic outlook towards the event on the third weekend of Advent. “In addition to established studs, some of the colts are by young stallions, which gives hope for breeding progress.” United Way is sending the most sons, with five of his offspring accepted for grading. Casall is being represented by four sons, Keaton by three, while Carmarino, Clarimo, Cornet Obolensky, Diarado and Vigado are represented by two sons each. 29 other stallions represented by one offspring each ensure a genetically diverse collection of stallion prospects born in 2022.
Holsteiner Stallions Two Days Straight
As usual, the grading starts with the presentation on hard ground – on Friday, 13 December, beginning at about 9:00am, the visitors can get a first impression of the stallion candidates. The riding horses put to auction in the Christmas Edition are presented at 11:00pm. As the two free jumping sessions proved to be informative last year, the free jumping will again take place on Friday (from 2:00pm) and Saturday (from 8:00am) in 2024. Following the second free jumping on Saturday, things will get really exciting again, with the stallion prospects presented in groups at a walk at 3:00pm. Afterwards, the Holsteiner champion stallion is proclaimed and will be duly celebrated with his breeder by the audience in the Fritz-Thiedemann-indoor arena. Then, the stallions for sale and the rigorously selected riding horses will be auctioned – afterwards, it’s party time.
So don’t hesitate too long to secure tickets for the grading of the Holsteiner young stallions. Tickets can be ordered from 15,- euros via eventim, all known ticket agencies as well as on site at Elmshorn. The print version of the grading catalogue is also available for 10,- euros through the Holsteiner Verband Kiel and Elmshorn offices.
