A Common Cause: Holsteiner Stallion Days and Spring Auction Sale

A stallion parade presenting Verband as well as privately owned stallions together in combination with the Holsteiner spring auction sale and the stallion grading at Elmshorn: Held on 22 and 23 March 2024, this new event creates a shared platform for stallion owners, breeders, clients and friends of the Holsteiner horse.

The grading under saddle, previously held in April, takes place in this setting for the first time. In addition to auction and grading, visitors may look forward to an entertaining presentation offering a comprehensive overview of stallions of various ages active in the Holsteiner breeding programme. “We are very much looking forward to organizing this new format at Elmshorn to showcase the diversity of the Holsteiner Verband”, says breeding director Stephan Haarhoff.

On Friday 22 March 2024, a number of stallions are presented for licensing, and in the evening auction manager Felix Flinzer and his team present the lots for this year’s spring auction, with the photo and video shoots for the collection currently underway. “Anticipation is rising for the upcoming weeks, seeing that we have been entrusted with highly promising, high-quality horses “, says Flinzer. The auction horses can be viewed and tried out after they have moved into their Elmshorn box stalls, which will happen on Monday 26 February. On Saturday 23 March, the shared stallion presentation is held in the Fritz-Thiedemann-indoor arena, with the stallions performing under the saddle (three-year-olds) or over the jumps, as appropriate for their age and training level. The evening again belongs to the Holsteiner auction horses, with the auction carried out in a hybrid format. Afterwards there is more opportunity for socialising at the After Auction Party.

Tickets for the Saturday (23 March) are expected to be available from mid-February at eventim, all known ticket agencies and the Holsteiner Verband Elmshorn facility from 5 euros. Admission is free on Friday (22 March).
