On May 20, the first field test for mares of the year will take place at the Holsteiner Verband’s facilities in Elmshorn. Approximately 30 Holsteiner mares have been entered for this event. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., and spectators are welcome to attend.
The one-day field test is organized by the Holsteiner Verband in cooperation with the Pferdestammbuch Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg. At the start, two judges will evaluate the mares’ free jumping. Following this, the mares will be presented to the jury again under their own riders in groups of up to four horses to assess their basic gaits and rideability. Finally, the test with an outside rider will take place to further evaluate rideability.
The schedule and catalog will follow...
The second field test in Elmshorn is scheduled for June 24. The entry deadline for this event is June 10, 2026.

Important information regarding stabling mares during the field test:
In connection with the field test on May 20 and the mare inspection on May 26, participants will have the option to stable their horses at the Holsteiner Verband.
This requires the submission of a negative herpes nasal swab test, which must be performed in advance by the owner’s veterinarian. For mares participating in both events, a single swab test is sufficient. To ease the financial burden on owners, stalls will be provided free of charge for these two dates.
Stalls can be reserved by calling Sigrun Günther (+49 163 24 69 320).
