As part of the Holsteiner Stallion Days on 28 and 29 March 2025 with licensing and spring auction, a joint stallion presentation of private and Verband stallions was planned for Saturday, 29 March 2025. Due to the current herpes situation in Schleswig-Holstein with acute cases in the immediate vicinity of the association's headquarters in Elmshorn, those responsible have decided to cancel the stallion presentation.

Several horses recently contracted herpes in the Steinburg district. The board and the managing directors had observed the situation, consulted with those affected and discussed the feasibility of the event. This also took place in dialogue with the stations that had originally confirmed their participation in the stallion presentation. ‘Some of them expressed understandable concerns and withdrew their participation,’ says First Chairman Olaf Rörden. ‘We have therefore decided to cancel the stallion presentation altogether.’

As things stand, the licensing scheduled for 28 March 2025 will still take place. Horses will only be allowed to enter the association's premises if a negative nasal swab test result is available. They will only be on the Verband's premises during the parts of the licensing on Friday. The Holsteiner Spring Auction on 29 March will also take place.
