Sebastian Rohde new managing director

After 40 years with the Association of Breeders of the Holsteiner Horse, Norbert Boley will hand over the reins to his successor in April 2022: Sebastian Rohde will take up his position as managing director of the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltung GmbH on March 15, 2022.

Sebastian Rohde is 43 years old and was born in Schleswig-Holstein, grew up in Tönning and studied business administration after graduating from high school. The business graduate already knows the Holsteiner Horse Breeders' Association, its breeders, riders and horses very well: from 2004 to 2010 he was auction manager in Elmshorn. Since 2011, his expertise has been regularly used by the Brazilian Sport Horse Association, where he was a member of the licensing committee, as a judge for mare registrations and gave lessons. Based on this experience, he took over responsibility for North and South America at the Oldenburg Association in Vechta in 2015. The member support, mare and foal registration belonged to his field of activity. The focus of his work was the development, implementation and establishment of a stallion performance test in North America. Sebastian Rohde grew up with horses, became European pony champion and vice-European champion with the German team in the juniors, can boast numerous successes in difficult courses and carries the golden riding badge. He accompanied some young horses on their way to the great sport, for example he drove Catoki v. Cambridge for the title of Vice Bundeschampion. He is married and has a daughter with his wife Simone. He also breeds with one or two Holstein mares. "I am very grateful for the experiences I have made over the past few years," says the future managing director. “Still, it feels good to be returning to Holstein now. Due to my personal, athletic and professional career, I am closely connected to the Holstein horse. The keeping of stallions is a unique selling point of the association. The association stallions shape the Holstein breed, if not alone, but still significantly. I am aware of this peculiarity and challenge - and I am looking forward to my new role."
