First impressions under saddle: Karlo de Kalvarie

Introducing the three-year-old Holsteiner Verband stallions: This series starts with the chestnut stallion Karlo de Kalvarie by Kassander van't Roosakker. Jayke Junge has taken over the riding of Karlo de Kalvarie. "Karlo is a very rideable horse with three super basic gaits. He has a great future ahead of him," the rider is convinced.

With this young stallion, Holsteiner breeders have an international calibre stud at their disposal. He combines globally sought-after sport genes with the desired Holsteiner blood ties in a special way. This typey chestnut stallion has three good basic gaits with very good balance, particular in the canter. He is not only a scopey jumper with quick reflexes but also typey and charismatic, which adds to his impressive presence.

Sire
Kassander van’t Roosakker himself was successfully shown up to 1.40m level by Gregory Whatelet (BEL) and impresses with offspring such as Picobello van’t Roosakker (Steve Guerdat/SUI), King of Panama Hero (Alexander Housen/BEL) and Quattro de Kalvarie (Niels Bruynseels/BEL).

The dam line of Kassander van’t Roosakker is impressive. The number of international top level jumping horses is without parallel, which is reflected in the worldwide demand for “Roosakker blood”. His dam Electra van’t Roosakker herself was successful up to 1.60m level with Janika Sprunger (SUI) and Jos Lansink (BEL) and produced a number of sport horses with international placings like for example Kaprice under the saddle of US American Kent Farrington (1.60m) or Horpleasure van’t Roosakker (1.60m) with Manon Hebette, who starts for Algeria. Electra van’t Roosakker is a granddaughter of one of the most famous broodmares in the world, Usha van’t Roosakker by Chin Chin.

Damline
Karlo’s dam, Qiara de Kalvarie, is by the Holsteiner stallion Sea Coast Don’t Touch Tiji Hero. She used to be successful up to 1.40m level and placed for example at children’s level in the Nations Cup of Hagen a.T.W. with Lars Demeersman (BEL). She is a full sister to the licensed stallion Dourkhan Hero Z, who shone at 1.45m level with Christian Ahlmann (GER) and has already performed impressive courses. The produce of the third dam, Inka van’t Roosakker by Calvaro, includes Zarkava Hero Z, a 1.60m level jumper with Dutchman Johnny Pals, as well as the notable sport horses Leonardo van’t Roosakker (1.50m) and Novak de Kalvarie (1.45m). The fourth dam’s produce includes Electra van’t Roosakker (1.60m), Falco van’t Roosakker (1.60m) and MoM’s Gatoucha van’t Roosakker (1.50m).
Karlo de Kalvarie affords the Holsteiner breeders a sought-after performance pedigree with close ties to Holsteiner genetics. With selective linebreeding to the mare Usha van’t Roosakker on both sides, Karlo’s pedigree is twice as reliable.
