Holstein’s Treasure Chest: Unique Frozen Semen Auction from 13-18 December

Opening the genetic treasury for the second time at the end of the year, the Holsteiner Verband offers a total of 19 straws with frozen semen from exceptional, one-of-a-kind breeding stallions in an online auction held from 13 -18 December.

Some of them used to be Olympic horses or World Cup winners, championship contenders and show jumping horses of international calibre.  And they have passed on their outstanding performance aptitude to their offspring in the most impressive way. While today semen availability is very limited for most of these stallions, the Holsteiner Verband frozen semen online auction is different: from Friday, 13 December, the bidding is open for the 19 straws – all of them approved for ICSI use. The final bid-up starts on Wednesday 18 December at 6pm.

The straws on offer include true gems, such as frozen Cathago semen. He used to be one of the most successful stallions of his time – both from a sport and a stud perspective. With Jos Lansink in the saddle, the Capitol I son competed at the 1996 Atlanta and the 2000 Sydney Olympics and won countless competitions at Grand Prix. His sire Capitol I is also available with one precious straw.

L-blood with Lord and Landos
Lord and his son Landos represent the valuable L blood in the treasure chest. Lord by TB sire Ladykiller is a legend in international jumping horse breeding. From Holstein, he had a great influence on the bloodlines of all successful studbooks. With licensed sons such as L’Eperon, Loran, Lord Z, Lord Liberty or Landos, Lord has erected a monument to himself as a sire. Landos should be also very interesting for eventing aficionados, seeing that he not only produced Olympic show jumping silver medallist, Magic Bengtsson (Peder Fredricson), but also highly decorated eventers such as double Olympic winner, London (Laura Collett).

French Anglo-Arabian Hermes d’Authieux, himself successfully shown up to 1.45m level, is another gem in the Holsteiner treasury auction, but a surge of interest is also expected for straws containing semen of stallions such as Corrado I, Capitol I, Caretino, Cassini I and Clearway. All straws are online on www.holsteiner.auction. For any questions, do not hesitate to call auction manager Felix Flinzer on +49 162 34 93 942.
