One day – two Holsteiner foal auction sales.
Once again, a Holsteiner Verband foal auction is held during the Springflutfestival hosted by the Johansen family in Hörup on 12 July while another choice selection of bright Holsteiner prospects is put to auction at the Falsterbo Horse Show on the same day. Both foal lots are online now.
The Hörup event delights not only horse lovers and breeders, but also families and fans of equestrianism, as it combines marketing, entertainment, and high-class competition and provides for unforgettable experiences for any visitor. 14 foals have made it into the catalogue. They carry a wide range of genes, a variety of international bloodlines and sought-after younger sires – always rooted in proven Holsteiner mare families.
Lot 7, Uriana by Uriko-Clarimo, comes from Holsteiner mare family 2269. Her third dam’s produce includes Carlsson vom Dach by Cassini II, who took home team gold with the American squad at the Hong Kong Olympics under the saddle of Will Simpson. Another interesting one is lot 10, Tequila by Pegase van’t Ruytershof-Cascadello I from Holsteiner mare family 730B. Her second dam, India Blue by Zirocco Blue, is a full sister to the licensed stallions Zornell I and II. Zornell II also carries the name prefix L.B. and used to be successful at the international showing scene with Christina Liebherr (SUI). And Million Dollar is represented by as much as two promising young talents in the Hörup auction line-up, one of them lot 1, Modric P by Million Dollar-Cornet Obolensky. His second dam is Conella by Colman, whose produce includes two full brothers by Uriko, Bull Run’s Jireh (Kristen Vanderveen/USA) and the licensed stallion Uno I, from mare family 890, the Casall stem. The other, lot 12, is Mio (out of a Casall dam) from mare family 2383. His third dam is none other than Marcus Ehning’s European team champion of 2005, Gitania by Capitol I.
Moreover, offspring by Cahil, Canturo, Vatson Sitte, Clarimo, Mylord Carthago, United Way, Cento, Cascolero and Keaton I provide for genetic variety. Beyond that, two other lots are put to auction: Trude and Lisbeth, the inseparable laying hen duo and Chili, a young Angus cow. On Saturday, the auction line-up will be publicly presented before the start of the auction in the evening.
Foals take Centre Stage at Falsterbo Horse Show
The five-star-rated competition is Sweden’s biggest outdoor sporting event combining a longstanding tradition and family-friendly atmosphere with dressage and show jumping classes at the highest level, and the Holsteiner foal auction has become a fixture on the programme by now. The twelve foals represent the sought-after genes of sires such as Ermitage Kalone, Casall, Diarado or Quel Homme de Hus on top of their pedigrees. Up-and-coming sires such as Keaton I and Vigado send offspring, as well. But also the bottom of the foals‘ pedigrees is pretty impressive: Lot 4, for example, Touch of Diamond ML by Ermitage Kalone-Diarado, boasts a full sister to Cardento by Capitol I (Peter Eriksson/SWE) for her second dam. The family of this desirable filly has produced many other 1.60m level sport horses, as well, including Cartello by Cartani (Darragh Kenny/IRL). A close relative to Philipp Weishaupt’s L.B. Convall by Colman is lot 7, Tamila by Ogano Sitte-For Fashion. This is also the direct family of Carsten-Otto Nagel‘s Campari by Caletto II and many other sport horses.
The foals are presented live in the big show jumping arena on Saturday, 12 July around 2 o’clock, with the auction scheduled to begin around 5 o’clock. Of course, for all those unable to attend, the event is livestreamed by ClipMyHorse.tv – even though a trip to the international horse show held in the scenic health resort Falsterbo can definitely be recommended.
