Sweden’s biggest outdoor equestrian event, the Falsterbo Horse Show, is under way, attracting an expert international audience with five-star-level jumping competitions as well as an entertaining programme for the entire family. The Holsteiner foal auction is the stand-out breed event on Saturday, 13 July.
The Holsteiner Verband marketing team has selected 13 foals which will arrive from Sweden, Denmark and all across Germany. For some exhibitors the auction held at the prestigious horse show offers something akin to “holiday feeling” and they come there with mares, foals, and family. “It is great to see the importance of the Holsteiner horse in Sweden and this horse show in particular provides a very good international platform for our breeders to present themselves and their philosophy”, says grateful auction manager Felix Flinzer. Many of the foals have a connection to Sweden’s sport stars: they are for example closely related to some of Rolf-Göran Bengtsson’s sport partners. For example lot 1, Smilla by Million Dollar-Casall. This filly comes from the same dam line as Caillan by Casall, who took the title of world champion of the young jumping horses with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. Closely related to Cardento by Capitol I is lot 2, Sweet Diamond ML by Dourkhan Hero-Diarado. Cardento was on the silver winning Swedish team with Peter Eriksson at the Athens Olympics. Lot 3 comes from an equally successful family: The second dam to Quality Star by Quaprice Bois Margot-Cornet Obolensky, Goriana van Klapscheut, is herself a highly successful 1.60m level jumper, which places him in the closest family circle of Odina van Klapscheut by Zazu/I am Moerhove’s Star, currently shown at elite level by Sweden’s Petronella Andersson – most recently at the CHIO Aachen. A definitely indispensable ingredient for such an auction is a foal by Zuccero HV, recently nominated for the Swedish squad for the Paris Olympics with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson: on the dam’s side, lot 5, Zuperstar, also carries the stallions Clarimo and Casall, both with a crucial influence on Bengtsson’s career.
The foals are publicly presented for the first time in the big Falsterbo jumping stadium on the day of the auction, 13 July at about 2:00pm. The hybrid auction begins at about 5:00pm directly after the prestigious Falsterbo Derby and is live-streamed by ClipMyHorse.tv.
