The Holsteiner Elite Foal Auction took place on 14 August at Herbert-Blöcker-Platz in Elmshorn. The lot was characterised by top-class pedigrees and promising prospects – the highlight was a colt from a particularly successful Holsteiner line. The top price was achieved by catalogue number 3, Catalano HaS by Catoki-Uriko, line 776, which was sold on the spot for 31,000 euros. The foal is a half-brother to Nightwish by Nixon van ’t Meulenhof, who caused a sensation as the top price at the Holsteiner Elite Riding Horse Auction and as the 2024 State Champion. His granddam, Shamrock by Canturo, is also one of the reliable broodmares of this line. Among others, she produced the internationally successful show jumpers Crunch by Clarimo (Rolf-Göran Bengtsson/SWE), Dito by Diarado (Denis Lynch/IRL) and the former top lot at the Elite Auction, Zucceros by Zuccero HV (Alonso Valdez Prado/PER).
Twice 20,000 euros
Catalogue number 34, Ustino by United Way-Casello, changed hands for 20,000 euros. The colt hails from one of the most successful show-jumping lines on the international scene: his granddam is the full sister of Emerald van ’t Ruytershof. The list of horses from this maternal line that have enjoyed success at 1.60-metre level is long.
Catalogue number 46, Vinni Blue by Vigado out of Chacco Blue, also fetched 20,000 euros. The name of this charming filly already hints at her promising pedigree. With Vigado (Lucas Wenz/GER), who has enjoyed success at over 1.45 metres, as her sire and Chacco Blue as her maternal grandsire, Vinni Blue combines two influential lines in international show jumping.
Fourth place in the price ranking was secured by catalogue number 41, Unica by Uriko-Centurion, line 7229. The filly was sold for 19,000 euros and is the full sister of rising star Iron Dames Uriel, who has already made a name for herself in international young horse tours under Sophie Hinners (GER).
The Holsteiner Elite Foal Auction thus once again confirmed the particular importance of proven dam lines and internationally successful genetics. The average price stood at around 9,700 euros, with a sales rate of 88 per cent.
