With Ascension weekend just around the corner, the international equestrian scene is looking northwards, as the elite is to arrive in the Hanseatic City to compete in the 94th German Jumping and Dressage Derby held in Hamburg-Klein Flottbek. And for some years now, the Holsteiner Verband has also been part of this highlight – because on Thursday afternoon, 13 high-quality Holsteiner foals are put to auction on this venerable turf.
Their pedigrees read like a Who’s Who of show jumping. Take for example lot 5, Diamanfino KNT by Diamant de Semilly-Baloubet du Rouet. Not only does this colt boast world champions and world cup winners as sire and dam sire but also his mare family, stem 318D2, deserves a closer look, as the direct dam-line has produced licensed 1.60m level jumpers such as Corofino I and II or Judy Ann Melchior’s unforgotten Coriano and Toni Hassmann’s Cabrio. Another foal to demand attention is lot 13, Tiva by Clarimo-Caretino from the important mare family 18A2. This lot’s dam has been performance tested in competition through 1.45m level herself and with horses such as Z Diamanty (Keean White/CAN) or Barcadi FZ (Nico Lupino/ITA), Tiva also boasts highly successful relatives. Lot 6, Pegaus by Pegase van’t Ruytershof-Origi d’O goes back to the famous Querly Chin through his third dam, Heroine de Muze. This seal brown colt is a foal carrying international bloodlines selected for this year’s Holsteiner Verband Derby auction sale.
Now it is up to you to secure your personal high-potential prospect – you are given 13 opportunities to do so on Thursday, 29 May around 4:15pm, following the Championship of Hamburg. The foals are publicly presented to the crowd for the first time at 12:20.
Information on all foals, including pics, videos, and relatives’ performance, can be viewed online on www.holsteiner.auction. Do not hesitate to contact Felix Flinzer (+49 162-3493942) for further information about the foals or the auction.
