For the fourth time now, a Holsteiner Verband foal auction will be held on Saturday, 13 July, during the Springflutfestival in Hörup, hosted by the Johannsen family with both passion and professionalism. The initiative had once been launched by a handful of renowned Holsteiner breeders. The idea is to auction a high-quality selection of foals in a cultivated atmosphere during the popular horse show on the Danish border. An opportunity for clients to secure valuable blood from choice stud farms, as the exhibiting houses have already produced international sport and championship horses, reserve champion stallions, champion mares and top priced auction horses in Germany and abroad. Their relatives, among others, will be auctioned during the Holsteiner Verband meets Holsteiner Highlight Sales.
International relatives
17 lots have been hand-picked this year – and their pedigrees read like a Who-is-Who of the international show jumping scene. Such as for example lot 7, Special Dream by Vigado-Casall from mare family 1446. Her full sister was one of them most sought-after foals last year and was knocked-down to the USA for 17,000 euros. Just recently, Special Dream’s sire became runner-up in the state championship of the six-year-old jumping horses and he already qualified for the national championship under the saddle of Lucas Wenz.
Another of the current selection’s recommendations is lot 3, Hörups Heartbreaker. As already suggested by the name, this young colt is by Nimmerdor son, Heartbreaker who has succeeded in producing 1.60m level jumpers in a row like hardly any other stallion, Halifax van het Kluizebos (Lorenza de Luca/ITA), Action Breaker (Sergio Alvarez Moya/ESP) and Jasper (Kent Farrington/USA) being only some examples. Elvis ter Putte and Jalisco, on the side of Hörups Hearbreaker’s dam, are no less exciting. The mare by Jalisco in her turn is none other than the dam of Mylord Carthago, Penelope Leprevost’s (FRA) world class horse.
Other big names are also represented in the collection, for example Casall, Clarimo, Quick Star, Ermitage Kalone or Quidam de Revel, all of whom make the hearts of show jumping enthusiasts beat faster. And let’s not forget the interesting foals by younger sires, such as Vigado, Keaton, United Way and Charaktervoll – who recently attracted attention at the Holsteiner state championships. It goes without saying that all foals come from the very best dam lines – how could it be any different in the land between the seas?
The foal lot has been carefully selected by auction manager Felix Flinzer together with the initiators of the Holsteiner Highlight Sales. All foals will be presented live to the Hörup audience during the event. Anybody prevented from attending can watch the broadcast on ClipMyHorse.tv.
