Casaltino was beyond dispute the champion of the 2013 Neumünster stallion grading, wowing grading commission and audience alike.
Dr. Nissen described him as follows: “This outstanding stallion presented himself as a winner early on, always attractive and likeable. He embodies the modern sport horse type desired in today’s Holsteiner horse, with his eye-catching, dark chestnut coat perfectly accentuating his type and emphasizing his quality. The elegant Casall son’s big, rectangular frame is well-proportioned and allows for perfect lines. His legs are correct with strong, well-defined joints and sound hooves. Moreover, the champion boasts thrilling movement with three exceptional basic gaits.
Given his excellent bloodline, modern conformation and top quality movement, Casaltino had been expected to produce modern, leggy foals with very good movement. And he delivers, as shown by his very favourable first crops. His first offspring, like premium stallion Cassitaro, clearly document their sire’s quality.
The stallion
is available at all stations of the Holsteiner Verband stallion stable. His sire Casall is a living legend. Having dominated international top level show jumping for years, he also stands out for his high-achieving performance offspring.
His dam, Palida, is by Carthago, one of the top international competition horses of his time under Jos Lansink. He competed at the Olympics twice, and also ranks among the top international show jumping sires.
Quattro Z, a half brother to Casaltino, has result in jumping classes to 1.60m under Denis Lynch. Even though his third sire Cantus was never shown in competition, he was ranked in the top group of international jumping sires. Calvaro under Willi Melliger, Cantate Z with Rodrigo Pessoa and Canturo under Bernardo Alves reflect their sire’s genetic ability.
Stem 5064 counts among the Holsteiner studbook’s most successful mare families. Calido, Paramount or Quarz are outstanding representatives of this dam line.

At his first outing in competition he scored 8.4 and was highly placed, and he finished 2nd in a young horse jumping class at A* level held during the Elmshorn State Championships. Also the 2016 showing season saw Casaltino perform at his best and become vice champion at the 5-year-old jumping State Championship, scoring 8.4 and 8.6 in the final.
This promising young talent should have a great future ahead at Rolf-Göran Bengtsson’s yard due to his excellent canter, carefulness and great jumping ability. The past season has seen the stallion and his prominent rider chalk up first placings in international youngster tours.
Casaltino demonstrated his impressive natural rideability and very good movement already at his first public appearances and tests. In 2014, the stallion was 30-day tested with satisfactory results. During training he scored 9.0 on disposition, willingness to perform and jumping ability.
30-Tage-Test 2014 in Schlieckau: Gesamt 7,96; ZW-Dres. 94 (+8); ZW-Spr. 127 (+2)
Casaltino’s first foal crops have been very convincing. His foal evaluation-based type and conformation breeding value is 119. A Casaltino colt was the top-priced foal of the auction held at the 2016 Elmshorn State Championships and was knocked down to a Schleswig-Holstein stallion producer at 20.000 euros. From his first crop, Casaltino has already produced a licensed son, Cassitaro. The grading committee was particularly impressed with his striking type and good free jumping and he was stalliongraded with premium marks in 2017.
