The 2014 champion stallion is steeped in athleticism. The structure of this medium-framed young stallion is characterised by outstanding riding horse points.
His head is expressive with big, intelligent eyes. His pronounced withers blend into a comparatively long but strongly constructed back and the long, slightly sloping croup typical for Quick Star offspring. His legs are correct with well-defined joints and well-shaped and sound hooves. Caracho boasts very energetic, elastic, and ground-covering movement in-hand and at liberty and performes balanced and uncomplicated under saddle.
Caracho’s jumping clearly reflects the quality of his bloodline. The young bay jumps with great ease and carefulness from an excellent canter. He is a very smooth jumper, with a particularly noticeable hind leg technique – definitely an inheritance from his grandsire Quick Star which has obviously passed on his attitude and competitive spirit to Caracho, as well.
Considering his highly consolidated genetic background, Caracho should breed very reliable in terms of type and performance. In view of his conformation, he is best bred to mares with a long and well-set neck, a trait typical – for example – for many Landgraf I descendants. His foals stand out for very good movement.
The stallion
is available at all stations of the Holsteiner Verband stallion stable.Caracho’s sire, Cassilano, was champion stallion of the Neumünster stallion grading in 2009 and won young horse jumping classes scoring as high as 9.0. At the 2012 Warendorf National Championship he qualified for the final with high placings in the qualifiers. Cassilano offspring stand out for very good type and exceptional movement. The rare occurance of a champion stallion’s first crop yielding yet another champion stallion speaks for his ability to pass on his quality.
Caracho’s dam Stella has earned herself the rating “highly recommendable“. A successful sport horse to S level under Jens Ritters herself, she is one of the few Quick Star daughters in the Holsteiner breeding programme and has a pedigree in a class of its own.
With exceptional sport horse and top sire Quick Star crossed to Holsteiner top sire Concerto II and French once-in-a-century stallion Cor de la Bryère in the female line, the dam line traces back to Virgina, a foundation mare in the Ritter family’s breeding programme. Concerto II daughter Nienburg III
has also stepped into the limelight through her produce, including Compadre van de Helle, at just 10-year-old a highly successful sport horse with placings at 1.60m level under Constant van Paesschen and the Holsteiner-licensed stallions Casquetto and Ferron. The last named stallion’s one year older full sister, Dithmarsia, was placed in several jumping classes at M level under junior rider Janne Ritters in 2018.
A daughter of TB sire Frivol, and from Caletto’s mare family 730B, Virgina boasts a tremendous number of performance descendants including Marius, Cefalo and Cassilano, through her daughters.
A particularly interesting aspect of Caracho’s genetic background is his breeder’s deliberate decision for line-breeding to the successful stem 730B in order to consolidate the positive traits of this successful line.

The 2016 showing season saw Caracho’s first outings in competition under Maximilian Gräfe. He placed 2nd in two young horse jumping classes at A level, including the Elmshorn State Championship where he scored 8.6. More mature and developed and since 2017 under the saddle of Ebba Johannson, he has been shown in young horse jumping classes through M level to great success. The combination won a young horse jumping class at M** in Bad Segeberg, and thus qualified for the Warendorf National 6-year-old jumper Championship.
Currently Caracho placed in youngster competitions up to the 1.40m.
Even though the results of 30-day ability assessment in spring 2015 did not come up to expectations, 70-day testing in October/November yielded a much better result and a more accurate impression of the stallion’s performance potential. Scoring 9.0 on rideability, 8.5 on free jumping and 9.0 on stadium jumping, he received the total mark 8.24 (jumping weighted).
