A colt by young Holsteiner stallion Million Dollar realized the highest price at the 2nd Holsteiner Verband foal auction at the Hamburg Derby ground.
The chestnut colt with a striking blaze out of a dam by Quite Capitol-Catrick I (Sönke Wilhelm Thamling, Kollmar) was knocked down at 26,500 euros to Hamburg buyers by auctioneer Dr. Günther Friemel . “The concept to offer foals in particular by young Holsteiner stallions has worked like a charm“, says Dr. Jörgen Köhlbrandt, more than pleased with the turnover. Clients from Sweden paid 23,000 euro for a colt boasting great movement by Casall-Loran-Contender (Matthias Wree, Hartenholm). A filly by Catch, the high-scoring winner of the 4- and 5-year-old stallion sport test, realized a top price as well. The typey Catch-Casall daughter (Miriam Kühl, Broderstorf) was knocked down at 17,500 Euro and is to remain in Germany. Another foal sired by a young Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH stallion, 5-year-old Del Arko, out of a Clearway-Cantus dam (Malte Kuhnert, Freienwill), was knocked down at 13,000 euros and will be raised in Germany, as well.
”With some visitors of the Hamburg Derby deciding on an impulse buy we have been able to welcome new customers“, said Köhlbrandt. The average price was more than satisfying at 18.500 euros.
There was also a lot of interest for the presentation of the three young Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping sires - Catch, Del Arko and Million Dollar- demonstrating their quality at the Derby ground under prominent riders, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Harrie Smolders and Marcus Ehning.
