Last Saturday the second Holsteiner Verband online foal auction sale came to a close. Offering a wide range of international genes and Holsteiner bloodlines, the collection comprised 15 lots with very interesting breeding.

Lot no. 4 came out on top, a young colt by Million Dollar, a Holsteiner Verband stallion currently being produced for competition at the yard of World Champion Jos Lansink. The damline of this foal knocked down at 34,500 euros is also interesting, tracing back to no other than the mare Wodka II, one of the most successful broodmares ever. Numerous licensed stallions and international sport horses, including for example Carassina (Thomas Kleis), Clearway or Conway I and II have come from the Holsteiner mare family 1916, which has been bred by the Schoof family of Hedwigenkoog for many years now. Purchased and co-owned by von Allwörden and the Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH, Million’s Way, as the young stallion prospect is called, is to stay put in Holstein. “I am thrilled so many jumping stables from all across Europe have joined the bidding and the horses will have a great sport horse outlook”, says auction manager Roland Metz.

The second most expensive foal, knocked down for 19,500 euros in the online auction, is a filly by Origi d’O out of a Nabab de Reve dam, bred by Sven Völz (Bienenbüttel), who is also standing the sire. Olympia – the name of this young prospect – doesn’t have to travel far to get to her new home, as Christian Schröder (Bargteheide) outstayed the competition in the battle of the bids. A filly by Casall and Colman changed hands for 15,250 euros; Beate Tetens of Osterhever is the breeder of Charmante from mare family 238. Customers from Switzerland secured this filly definitely living up to her name. “The foals in this selection have succeeded in convincing some new customers of the Holsteiner horse and the good result of the auction is confirmed by the 80 percent sale rate“, Roland Metz recaps. The average foal price of the second Holsteiner online foal auction sale was 11,950 euros.

The next opportunity for securing a Holsteiner partner will arise at the first Holsteiner summer event held from 13 to 16 August: the elite foal auction and the riding horse auction sale both offer a highly interesting selection. These hybrid auction sales are carried out on-site as well as online.
