On 8 September 2018 the Holstein Elite Foal Auction will take place in Elmshorn.
Here you will find the auction lot and further information about the event.
The Holsteiner Verband September foal auction sales used to be held at two locations - Behrendorf and Elmshorn.
Over these past months, the chairs of the Holsteiner Verband breeding districts have been considering and dealing with the needs and demands of long-time and new customers. Location was an important topic as well. Discussions held at various meetings resulted in the decision to hold only one foal auction sale – at Elmshorn, on 8 September. “Our Verband headquarters provide perfect conditions“, says auctioneer and board member Dr.Günther Friemel, “and the new sand surface arena allows the foals to present themselves in the best light”. This will strengthen and further develop the Elmshorn Verband headquarters and boost its position on the worldwide horse scene.
Around 70 quality foals by proven sires – Casall, Diamant de Semilly, Kannan or Livello - as well as promising young stallions, like Central Park, Karajan, Million Dollar or Unlimited, to name just a few - have made it into the catalogue after rigorous selection. Numerous championship foals are being offered for sale at Elmshorn. As another first, colt and filly foals will be presented and auctioned separately. The breaks provide prospective buyers with opportunities to have another look at the foals in the stable and to get into contact with the breeders.
A trip to Elmshorn is worth the while for any horse enthusiast, not just those keen on buying a foal at auction. A wide variety of food and drink stalls can be found at the Elmshorn Verband premises on the day of the auction – barbecue, crepe, ice cream, coffee, and cake booths and many more - as well as a bouncy castle, a make-up booth and a petting zoo for the children. There are stalls where artisans and craftspersons present their products for sale. A highlight are the guided stallion stable tours offered by the Holsteiner stallion keeping, which would not be complete without a visit at Holsteiner star sire Casall’s box stall.
