The blood of TB stallion Ladykiller has become a rarity by now even though Holsteiner performance breeding has originally evolved through the Ladykiller blood.
As it has been fading into the background lately, a stallion like Larimar is even more valuable. Given his dual ability and first and foremost his importance as a damsire, he provides a genetic alternative to have the Ladykiller blood reintroduced.
Larimar is a sire who passes on many positive qualities: movement, rideability, good temperament and jumping ability. He is attracting more and more attention as a dam sire. In general, this stallion is able and well-suited to cement essential sport horse qualities on a great variety of mares. At the same time he provides a unique genetic option without alternative, unless you are willing to use frozen semen.

Sire
His sire Lavall II has produced a number of good competition horses: Lady Orion with Andre Sakakini (Egypt), Kassandra with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (Sweden), Landru with Emilio Bicocchi (Italy), Lucky Boy with Marcus Ehning and Suncal’s King with Joie Gattin (USA). Lavall II has had particular impact as a dam sire: for example the stallion Carvallo, as well as Checker (Beat Maendli) and Cash 63, the winner of more than 100,000 euros in prize money with Marco Kutscher, are all out of Lavall II daughters. Larimar’s bloodline is very much influenced by TB stallions. Lavall II carries TB genes through Landgraf I by Ladykiller/TB, the TB stallions Anblick and Sacramento Song and through Wahnfried by Waldenser/TB.
Damline
The TB influence on Larimar is yet increased through the dam’s side, through Lord, another son of Ladykiller/TB out of a mare by TB sire Cottage Son. Larimar’s 2nd dam, Hanka, carries TB genes through her TB sire, Little Lion. Larimar’s dam, Elastic Dream, as well as his 2nd dam, Hanka are highly rated state premium mares. At 2- and 3-yearold, Elastic Dream reigned supreme as champion of the Elmshorn elite mare show. At 7- and 8-year-old, she was successfully shown in jumping classes by Eva Bitter and Dirk Ahlmann. Bred to Capitol I, Hanka produced the licensed stallion Capan, a jumper which competed for Finland at the Europeans.
Personal contribution of Larimar
Larimar underwent performance testing in Schlieckau and completed the test at 127.28 index points overall (fifth). His free-jumping was graded 10.0 by the judges and his stadium jumping 9.5 by the test riders. After many results in jumping classes to M level, Thomas Voss got the ride on Larimar in 2011 and took home placings to M** level.

Offspring of Larimar
Larimar’s first-crop son Larcon became champion stallion of the 2010 grading and placed at S level in Beijing, Cheng Du and Ju Yong Guan under his Chinese rider Yuxing Ma.
Other Larimar offspring performing excellent in competition include Larisal with Urh Baumann, successfully shown at international S level. Lord Mexx is another licensed Larimar son and a successful sport horse. Under the saddle of Angelos Touloupis (GRE) he boasts placings up to 1.55m, including sixth place in the Warsaw grand prix.
Larimar’s daughter Deleyn was successfully shown by Irishman Shane Sweetnam up to 1.55m level; most recently she placed in the regional championship in Travers City with Sofia Cady (USA).
Other than his highly successful sport horse offspring, he has produced five stallion-graded sons and 16 state premium mares.
