Already during the summer of 2020, the Chaman son performed impressively in young horse classes with various riders of the Luther family’s team.
Licensed for breeding on a stud trial basis in January 2021, he has been approved by the Holsteiner stallion grading comwithtee on 6 January.
Despite standing 1.76cm tall, the big-framed stallion proves to be tremendously rideable. The canter is impressively ground-covering, elastic, and balanced. His jumping shows exceptional quality, carefulness, and technique. Especially noticeable, however, are his strength and scope, raising expectations to see Khatou-S perform at major venues, jumping particularly challenging courses in the future.
As Jesse Luther will continue to show the stallion owned by the Helasuo stallion stud in Finland in competition, his availability at stud will be restricted to the period from 15 April to 30 June 2022.
Khatou is currently among the tallest stallions stood by the Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH and he also takes a seat in the front row as to strength and scope. These are cornerstones for selecting a mate. Smaller mares and those in need of improvement in terms of canter and scope should be well-suited for breeding to Khatou. The head lies within the breeders’ judgement.

Sire
His sire Chaman is one of the best jumping stallions in the world – as documented by his impressive track record and a look at the top 10 of the 2014 FEI world ranking. With Ludger Beerbaum, he won the German Masters in Stuttgart, the grands prix of Lyon/FRA, Lausanne/SUI, Ebreichsdorf/AUT, and the Vienna Masters, the Wien/AUT leg of the Global Champions Tour. Moreover, notched up front finishes in Hamburg, Chantilly/FRA, Madrid/ESP, Bordeaux/FRA, Zurich/SUI and Hong Kong/HKG.
The first Chaman offspring born in 2014 have already won young horse jumping classes, with one of them making it to the final of the Rastede State Championship. At the 2020 National Championships, his daughter Charmante (out of a dam by Coriander) won a six-year-old jumping class at M level, whereas Charly by Chaman-Stakkato took home the gold medal in the section of the five-year-old jumping horses with Christian Kukuk.
Damline
The damline of Khatou-S carries four stallions, Toulon by Heartbreaker, Silverstone by Champion de Lys, Cash by Cor de la Bryère and Nimmerdor by Farn, all of which have stood out as sport as well as breeding stallions. Another remarkable fact is that all mares in the tail female line down to the 5th dam have successfully undergone sport horse testing with his direct dam, Erachelle-S, successfully shown at 1.50m level.
Khatou’s bloodline provides a very interesting option for the Holsteiner studbook, also with regard to the fact of Chaman and his offspring’s reliability to pass on height as well as scope. In view of so many positive factors and seeing that ability in particular will never go out of fashion, there is a wide range of options for his use in the Holsteiner studbook.
Personal contribution of Khatou-S
In November, Khatou convincingly completed 50-day testing at Neustadt/Dosse where he placed 2nd with a jumping weighted final mark of 9.18.
Khatou-S performed very successfully over the past showing season with Jesse Luther with the combination chalking up wins and placings in young horse jumping classes up to M level scoring as high as 8.6.
