Casaltino

Casall — Carthago

Description of Casaltino

There was no controversy about the champion at the 2013 Neumünster stallion grading, as grading commission and audience were equally convinced and impressed by Casaltino, described by Dr. Nissen as follows: This outstanding stallion presented himself as a winner early on. Always attractive and likeable, he embodies the sport horse type desired of today’s modern Holsteiner horse. Moreover, the quality of this Casall son is emphasized by his eye-catching dark chestnut coat which perfectly matches his type. The noble and big-framed stallion is characterized by a very good rectangular frame combining harmoniously structured proportions and allowing for perfect lines. His legs are correct with strong, well-defined joints and sound hooves. The champion also boasts thrilling movement with three exceptional basic gaits. The stallion was 30-day tested with satisfactory results. During the training he was given 9.0 for disposition, willingness to perform and jumping ability. At his first outing in competition he was highly placed at a score of 8.4, and he finished 2nd in a young jumper class at A* level held during the Elmshorn State Championships. Also the 2016 showing season saw Casaltino perform at his best. He became vice champion at the 5-year-old jumper State Championship, scoring 8.4 and 8.6 in the final. His sire Casall Ask is one of the most successful show jumpers in the world as well as an exceptional sire. His dam, Palida, is by Carthago who used to be one of the top FEI competition horses in his time under his rider Jos Lansink and also ranks among the international top show jumping sires. Quattro Z, a half brother to Casaltino has result in jumping classes to 1.60m under Denis Lynch. Stem 5064 is one of the most successful mare families in the Holsteiner breeding programme, with outstanding representatives like Calido, Paramount or Quarz. Casaltino’s first foal crops have been very convincing. His breeding value based on foal evaluations has been estimated at 130 points. A Casaltino colt was the top-selling lot of the foal auction held during the Elmshorn State Championships and was knocked down to a Schleswig-Holstein stallion producer at 20.000 euros.
