At the Tryon World Equestrian Games Chardonnay and Max Kühner (Austria) finished sixth individually.
Well, it was not meant to be: While Chardonny by Clarimo-Corrado I (Ernst-Uwe Sachau, Bohmstedt) and Max Kühner had been on second position before the decisive last round, all medal hopes were crushed when the grey knocked down two rails. However, sixth place is definitely quite impressive as well. Zeremonie by Cero-Quick Star (Hans-Joachim Ahsbahs, Bokel) and Laura Kraut (USA) finished tenth. After an impeccable first round, two knock-downs and a time penalty had to be added, thus resulting in tenth place. H & M Chilli Willi by Casall-Lord (Peter Diedrichsen, Borgsum/Föhr) and Nicola Philippaerts (Belgien) finished on 22th position. Simone Blum (Germany) was announced the World Champion. She was in the saddle of Askari daughter DSP Alice, the only horse finishing the competition without incurring any jumping fault. The last rider to win the title for Germany had been Franke Sloothaak at Den Haag in 1994. Silver and bronze went to Switzerland: Martin Fuchs aboard Clooney by Cornet Obolensky and Steve Guerdat with Bianca by Balou du Rouet out of a Cardento dam.
