The second Sunday after the Holsteiner stallion grading is scheduled for the Dithmarschen breeding district’s breeders’ brunch. 65 persons had registered for this event held at the Grillscheune in Dellbrück where they chatted away, enjoying a delicious and varied brunch buffet in a relaxed atmosphere.
One of the topics on the agenda was a lecture by Christian Dietz (board member of the Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction GmbH and marketing professional) on "the importance of the individual breeder for the Holsteiner brand as a worldwide symbol" which caused quite a few breeders to ponder their own role as well as the importance of this topic. Even a Hanovarian breeder from the district of Vechta had become aware of this lecture and attended with his wife.
After the lecture the breeding district’s chairperson, Silke Zuba, awarded prizes to several breeders. Volker Thedens of Lieth as well as Hans-Otto Krohn of Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog were given pictures for their successful international sport horses. In recognition of their breeding efforts, Timm Rohwedder of Eggstedt, the Witt family of Wellinghusen and Timm Peters of Bargenstedt, who had had their home-bred colts stallion graded at Neumüster received framed pictures of their stallions from the hands of Silke Zuba. The highlight was the breeder of the year award where the board had reached a clear-cut decision in favour of Timm Peters and his wife Nicole, who is obviously instrumental in achieving this success. In addition to their many highly successful sport horses and breeding stock, they have raised the bar to yet unprecedented heights at this year’s Neumünster stallion grading: exhibiting three home-bred, home-produced colts, they not only had all three of them stallion-graded by the grading committee, but, moreover, UNO I was named 2017 reserve champion stallion – a fantastic accomplishment! Not only is the challenge cup to grace the Bargenstedt living room for a year, but Nicole was pleased to receive a bouquet she was most deserving of. T. H.
